Basic Miura Ori is a well-known and practical fold in the art of origami. It was designed by Koryo Miura, a Japanese professor, in the 1970s. Due to its unique properties, such as the ability to fold and unfold efficiently, Miura Ori has found numerous applications in science and engineering, including solar panels used for spacecraft.
Key features of Basic Miura Ori include:
- Folding pattern: A grid of angled creases that fold in a zigzag manner in two directions.
- Compressibility and expandability: Miura Ori can easily be compressed into a small, compact form and then expanded back to its original shape with a simple motion.
- Practical applications: Beyond artistic origami, Miura Ori is used in fields like structural design, packaging, and even space equipment.
In origami, Miura Ori is considered a relatively simple pattern that beginners can learn, yet with further practice, it can be used for more complex and professional projects.
For this origami, we need a square sheet of paper in size 20x20 cm, smaller or larger, and then follow the steps of making origami with the video so that you have a beautiful miuraori at the end.
