I've seen a lot of Techtubers saying the Pi-Hole is the miracle pill for advertising on your network. In reality it will only reduce the ads you see. It will not stop ads on a Smart TV on either the Home Screen or in apps like YouTube without very specific config for your device. It should be used in conjunction with Firefox and uBlock origin. You can also use the Pi-Hole for filtering out specific websites or adult content on specific devices if required using the Groups function and adding the Fireblog Adult list.
I picked the Orange Pi as it is about 2/3 the price of a Raspberry Pi that supported Gigabit Ethernet. You could also use a lower spec device, Pi-Hole will run fine on a 1st gen Pi.
