Planning ahead is my little love letter to myself my saree, blouse, and D’Coat are always ready before a flight, so I never have to rush or worry about what to wear. People say traveling in a saree is hard, but for me, it feels like carrying a piece of home and confidence wherever I go.
Last week at the airport, I met a young woman nervously adjusting her saree. She looked at me, her eyes full of hope and worry, and asked, “Is it really okay to travel in a saree? I’m trying it for the first time and my pleats are behaving like rebellious teenagers!” I couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Trust me, your pleats just want you to look fabulous! Pin them, smile, and let your pallu fly a little airports could use some drama anyway.”
She giggled, her nervousness melting away, and told me, “I was scared I’d trip and become the airport entertainment!” I winked, “If you do, own it! Call it the new ‘saree runway walk.’” We both burst out laughing, and she walked away with her head held high, her saree flowing behind her.
That moment reminded me how a saree isn’t just fabric it’s comfort, courage, and a story in every fold. And sometimes, all it takes is a smile and a little humour to turn nerves into pride.
