Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation announced a $500,000 donation on Wednesday (September 10) to support children injured in Gaza and Ukraine. The funds will be distributed through the World Health Organization (WHO), Save the Children, and the Centre for Blast Injury Studies (CIS) at Imperial College London.
The announcement came during Harry’s visit to CIS, where he learned about groundbreaking research into injuries caused by war and natural disasters. “Gaza now has the highest density of child amputees in the world and in history,” Harry said, calling for stronger partnerships across medicine, government, and humanitarian aid.
Of the total donation:
$200,000 will support WHO’s medical evacuations from Gaza to Jordan.
$150,000 will aid Save the Children’s humanitarian work in Gaza.
$150,000 will go to CIS to develop advanced prosthetics for young amputees in Gaza and Ukraine.
Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan and founded the Invictus Games, has long championed causes for veterans and blast survivors. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who joined the visit, praised Harry’s “passion and commitment.”
Double amputee Dave Henson, CIS ambassador and first British Invictus team captain, said Harry’s support has been “hugely important” in raising the centre’s global profile.
