Recently Tinkerman updated his custom Sonoff SC firmware to report motion from a microwave motion detector. I intend on performing the same modification to my Sonoff SC environmental monitor.
In this video I perform a couple of modifications to a motion detector I bought a short while ago.
One of which is to add a RC filter to the power line. Although I have not tried it yet, apparently some people report that ESP8266s can create power supply problems with these types of devices (as well as PIR sensors). A RC (Resistor/Capacitor) filter can help stop false positives caused by the ESP8266. I thought that I would add the filter as a precaution.
The second modification is to replace a surface mount resistor with a Bourns (well a clone) 3296 multi-turn variable resistor. The resistor sets the range for the device and as microwave motion detectors can penetrate walls and doors, this mod can restrict the motion detection to a single room of the house.
