This video is about the new Home Assistant Zigbee/Thread Coordinator, the Connect ZBT-2. It’s a robust device with a great antenna, but is the migration process as "seamless" as promised?
I take you through my honest experience migrating my smart home from a Z-Stack adapter (SLZB-06P10) to the new Connect ZBT2 (Ember). While the documentation suggests a smooth ride for ZHA users, coming from Zigbee2MQTT (Z2M) proved to be a much bigger challenge.
We attempt the recommended "Z2M to ZHA" migration path, deal with unsupported devices (Tuya climate/power meters), and ultimately decide to rebuild the network. Plus, in the second half of the video, we take this new antenna to a massive property with over 200 devices to see if it can fix a failing Zigbee network.
In this video, we cover:
* The hardware build quality of the Connect ZBT2.
* The official migration options provided by Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT.
* Attempting to migrate Z2M to ZHA (and why I had to switch back).
* The reality of "Unsupported Devices" in ZHA vs Z2M.
* Rebuilding a Zigbee2MQTT network from scratch with the Ember driver.
* Case Study: Fixing a large-scale, unstable Zigbee network (300+ devices) with the Connect ZBT2.
If you are planning to upgrade your Zigbee coordinator, especially if you use Zigbee2MQTT, you need to watch this first!
