Lessons Learned From Making My Own 3D Printer Filament Dryer

I wanted to see if I could build my own filament dryer using a simple 4l food container, a heater, and some electronics powered by a NodeMCU that I programmed myself. In this video I walk you through how I designed the circuit, added a display and controls, and then fit everything into a cereal box that can hold a full spool of filament.

I’ll show you how I powered the 12V 50W PTC heater, measured the temperature with a BME680 sensor, and even added a fan to circulate the warm air. The setup worked, but I also ran into some problems I didn’t expect, especially with the OLED screen shutting off once it got too hot.
