On the morning of December 4th, 2025, Arkansas State Police were alerted by Fort Smith Police to a vehicle being followed in connection with a disturbance and outstanding concerns. The vehicle, a Jeep Compass, was reported to be displaying a fictitious Arkansas license plate and traveling at a high rate of speed in the Fort Smith area.
An ASP trooper positioned near the interstate observed the Jeep and confirmed the registration irregularities. As the vehicle exited onto Jenny Lind Road near Cavanaugh Road, troopers coordinated to conduct a traffic stop. Emergency lights and sirens were activated, but the driver failed to yield and continued driving through areas where safe opportunities to stop were available.
As the situation escalated, the Jeep began using improper lanes of travel and showed signs of evasive behavior. Troopers adjusted their positioning and attempted to prevent the vehicle from continuing further into traffic.
