Hwy 1 wreck by moss landing. dashcams

This was SO CLOSE. I pulled over and called 911… the Honda CRV driver (2x rollover) got out 100% okay and uninjured. The pickup truck driver was transported via EMS.

Hey out there- Anyone has my permission to use this footage in your dash cam compilation or for educational use. Frankly I think the physics of what happened here are somewhat rare and interesting if you look at it. And If you credit the name of this youtube channel I appreciate that.

What it appears that happened: White Ford Transit Van driver was definitely HELLA distracted either texting or doing whatever with his phone, so rear-ending the Black Chevy Pickup. True enough, this Chevy pickup (or maybe it's a Dodge, I'm not sure) seems to have slowed maybe a little short of the traffic in front of him, but this is the fking HWY 1 between Seaside and Watsonville, OK, it's a SINGLE LANE each direction. There is ALWAYS traffic congestion around the power plant, it's an A-Priori FACT, Any local on the road here knows this.

I think the White Transit Van must have been FULL of heavy stuff. The momentum it delivered to the rear-ended pickup as it careens into oncoming traffic just behind me (as I swerve aside) is not insignificant! The driver of the black pickup truck had no chance to change his trajectory or avoid the second collision with the Honda CRV right behind me. This impact was just-so as to cause the 2x rollover, momentarily becoming airborne, and landing back on its wheels upright. The driver of the CRV emerged completely unharmed from her vehicle while I was on the phone.

Don't FKING TXT or use your phone while driving! This is how QUICKLY things happen.
