In Swindon Control, Route Control Manager Ian takes a distressing emergency call from a train driver whose worst fears have just come true — his train has hit somebody on the line.
As the alarm sounds, the control room swings into action. Although the incident happens miles from central London, the ripple effect spreads fast — with rush hour approaching and services in and out of Paddington under threat.
This episode goes behind the scenes as Network Rail staff work calmly under pressure to manage tragedy, safety, and communication across the rail network.
