Report:
On 12/04/2025 at approximately 3:44 P.M., Highway Police requested assistance with an active vehicle pursuit. I intercepted
the pursuit on Interstate 530 northbound near the 7-mile marker and assumed primary. I observed the suspect vehicle traveling
at speeds up to 125 miles per hour and driving recklessly, including passing other motorists on the shoulder at high speeds.
Due to the imminent danger posed to the public, I waited for a break in traffic and attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention
(TVI). The initial TVI was unsuccessful, and the suspect vehicle regained control. I then approached the vehicle again to initiate
a second TVI. As I moved into position, the suspect attempted to maneuver in front of my patrol unit, apparently to prevent me
from reaching the vehicle’s side. This caused my patrol unit to make contact with the rear bumper of the suspect vehicle.
Following the contact, the suspect vehicle lost control and struck the bridge rail on the left side of the roadway. As the vehicle
skidded back toward the right, I attempted to slow down to avoid further impact; however, I was unable to do so, and the
passenger side of the suspect vehicle struck the driver’s side of my patrol unit. Both vehicles then left the roadway on the right
shoulder, traveling down an embankment where the suspect vehicle struck a dirt pile and became disabled.
I, along with a Highway Police officer, approached the suspect vehicle and issued verbal commands for the driver to exit. The
suspect ignored commands. I retrieved my baton from my duty belt and broke the driver’s side window. We opened the door,
gained control of the suspect’s hands, and placed the suspect on the ground, taking him into custody without further incident.
During these events, the PIT bumper on my patrol unit was pushed inward, causing damage to the radiator, serpentine belt,
and front grill. Additional minor cosmetic damage was observed on the front driver’s door and the rear bumper diffuser around
the exhaust.
