For a long time, I tried to understand everyone. Their habits, their contradictions, the way they said one thing and lived another. I thought if I asked enough questions—if I stayed patient, observant, reasonable—it would all make sense eventually.
It didn’t.
What I learned instead is that some people aren’t confused; they’re just committed to their patterns. And the more energy I spent trying to decode them, the further I drifted from myself. I was explaining things that didn’t need explaining, tolerating dynamics that didn’t deserve analysis.
So I stopped asking why.
Not out of bitterness, but out of clarity. I realized peace doesn’t come from understanding everything—it comes from choosing what no longer gets access to you. Detachment wasn’t giving up; it was drawing a boundary I should’ve drawn sooner.
Now I move quieter, lighter. I don’t fix what isn’t mine to fix. I don’t stay where I have to shrink to be understood. I’ve learned that preserving my peace matters more than solving anyone else’s behavior.
I’m done asking why.
And finally, that feels like an answer.
