5 Powerful Shaolin Qin Na Exercises for Self-Defense (Part 1)
Led by Shifu Kanishka (Shi Yanyou), joined by his disciple Shi Heng Yi

Qin Na (擒拿), meaning “seize and control”, is one of the oldest and most practical branches of traditional Shaolin Kung Fu. It focuses on joint locks, pressure points, leverage, and structural disruption to neutralize an opponent with control, not force.

But to truly apply Qin Na, you must first build the foundation, strength, sensitivity, and structure.

In this video, Shifu Kanishka guides you through 5 powerful exercises to develop the hands, grip, tendons, and lower-body structure necessary for effective self-defense.

What You’ll Learn in Part 1:
1. Stick Warm-Up Series (3 variations):
 • Up + Down
 • Circular Flow
 • Ma Bu to Gong Bu transition
2. Eagle Claw Flutter Drill
3. Eagle Claw Circle + Strike Drill
4. Finger Push-Up Strengthener
5. Knuckle Plank Conditioning

These exercises train grip strength, finger dexterity, tendon alignment, and dynamic stance work, all essential for applying real Qin Na techniques under pressure.

🎓 Why It Matters:
Qin Na is not just technique, it’s about control, timing, and internal awareness. These drills help prepare your body to execute Shaolin locks and counters with precision and confidence. From street defense to sparring, these movements are the roots of effective application.
